Women are heavily restricted, forced to wear a burqa in public, never allowed to show their faces to the world. Parts of this book infuriated me, knowing that women are treated this way in the modern world. Each character must find their way amongst the ruins and intimidation of a world gone mad...."We've already been killed, all of us. It happened so long ago, we've forgotten it."I give this book 3 1/2 stars for the descriptive detail of life under the Taliban rule.....emotionally challenging to read, but well worth it.
