Catherine O'Flynn found a unique voice for the girl's character. It reminded me of Kate Atkinson's Case Histories. I normally don't enjoy reading books with depressing themes, but for some reason I enjoyed this book. I connected with the characters' inabilities to move on with their lives. We all sometimes get stuck in our situations and can't find a way to get on with our lives the way we know we should. The portrayal of this situation was incredibly realistic.
