The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, Book 1)

The Hunger Games - Suzanne Collins This book had me in its grip from page one. I was hesitant to read this. I am not big on futuristic explorations, but the author doesn't throw in too much sci-fi jargon. The awfulness of the Hunger Games is not too far-fetched, unfortunately. The way reality tv has taken over, almost anything seems to pass as entertainment. People are becoming more desensitized to violence. Thank goodness for the humanity Suzanne Collins portrays in her characters. This is a fantastic book. I imagine it will be made into a movie in a year or so from now. I was super excited to see that the second book is now out. Thank goodness I just finished this one--I couldn't have bear waiting a year for #2!
